In order to facilitate and assist the mobile and wireless application development in Hong Kong, the objectives of the establishment of the Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre are:
- To provide an open and neutral platform and resources, that is not in alliance with any single mobile network operator and vendor, for developers to develop and test their mobile and wireless applications;
- To provide up-to-date technical information on the development, trends and standards of wireless technologies;
- To provide technical consultancy and business support to developers;
- To enhance the quality and reliability of mobile and wireless applications developed;
- To help developers disseminate their products in Hong Kong, China and other countries;
- To foster partnership and networking among the industry;
In the end, the Centre can help establish Hong Kong as the hub of mobile and wireless application development in Asia Pacific. In addition, the Centre will be the focus for partnership with mobile network operators, international mobile device vendors, major IT firms in Hong Kong, China and overseas. It is to consolidate resources, explore new business opportunities and help disseminate mobile and wireless applications both locally and overseas.
Hong Kong becomes the hub of mobile and wireless development in Asia Pacific to attract investments and talents in the world.
